Podcast – Energy, cooperation and territory: the renewable future of Latin America

As part of our ongoing working in Latin America, we had the opportunity to speak on the Somos Más que TIC podcast about how Latin America can harness its offshore wind potential through an approach that integrates the technical, social, environmental and economic dimensions.

While the conversation touched on a range of topics, our head of Ibero-America, Vladimir Sosa, and Colombia Research Associate, Marianella Bolviar Carbonell, had the opportunity to talk about how the energy transition is a collective effort. It is not decided in one place, but built around the table where governments, communities, industry, academia and science come together. As Colombia reaches a pivotal moment, with confirmed offshore wind potential in Atlántico and La Guajira, and an institutional environment creating space for dialogue, the conversation has never been more important.

This podcast explores how offshore wind can be developed through trust, collaboration and shared learning. It looks at the technical, environmental, economic and social dimensions as connected from day one, highlighting how integrated planning can strengthen the blue economy by supporting fishing, tourism, aquaculture and conservation. Through two-way cooperation, the series reflects on how Colombia and Latin America can build on global experience while strengthening local capabilities and leading the region’s own energy transition.
